Innovative Therapy
Dr. Roberts uses a cutting edge class 3b frequency specific laser as part of his extensive therapy plan.
Laser Therapy is an innovative treatment that provides many tissue-healing benefits for a wide variety of medical conditions. There are an abundance of applications for laser therapy in our patients.
Laser is the acronym for “light amplification of stimulated emission of radiation”. A laser is a device that emits focused, penetrating light beams with three qualities:
- Light that is a single wavelength (monochromatic)
- Photons traveling in the same phase and direction (coherent)
- Photons that travel in a single straight beam (collimated)
These qualities allow the therapeutic laser to be tissue penetrating, in a focused area, which leads to activation of a whole range of positive cellular activity (photobiomodulation). These stimulated cellular activities, lead to the positive effects of laser therapy such as:
- Relief of chronic and acute pain by modulation of nerves’ function and speed
- Increases speed of tissue repair by increasing blood circulation
- Stimulates the Immune System
- Reduces Inflammation
- Enhances collagen and muscle development, which in turn enhances healing
- Stimulates development of new blood vessels
- Reduces swelling from injury
- Stimulates nerve healing, and reduces nerve damage
Conditions
Conditions benefiting from laser therapy include:
- Pain and inflammation
- Spinal related injuries (including disc disease)
- Joint disorders
- Lameness – acute and non-acute
- Progressive lameness (arthritis)
- GI motility disease
- Progressive myelopathies (“down in the rear” dogs)
- Organ disorders
- (e.g. liver disorders)
- Wound healing
- Cats and Exotics with limited medication options
